About Keep America Beautiful
Keep America Beautiful is a national organization that partners with local affiliates to inspire and educate people to take action everyday to improve and beautify their community environment.
They support projects to:
– End littering
– Improve recycling
– Beautify communities
Our History
2005
Keep Stockwell Beautiful was founded.
2006
The group began pursuing recycling possibilities for the Lauramie Township area with the assistance of the Wildcat Solid Waste District and the County Commissioners. In March of 2006, the first recycling station in our area was opened. Residents continue to use this valuable resource free of cost.
2007
In May of 2007, Keep Stockwell Beautiful became the smallest Affiliate of the Keep America Beautiful Organization in the world. The organization has more than 600 affiliates and Stockwell is the fourth in the state of Indiana.
2009
Keep Stockwell Beautiful received three National Awards from Keep America Beautiful including first place in the Affiliate Award in 2009. The Affiliate Award is the highest award an affiliate can receive. These National Awards recognize the passion and dedication of affiliates across the country.
2010
Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. awarded Keep Stockwell Beautiful and James Cole Elementary the Environmental Stewardship Award in 2010 for their team work in the town of Stockwell.
2013
The Cole Kids Clean Up Stockwell program received first place in 2013 in the Youth Award category from Keep America Beautiful. Keep Stockwell Beautiful also received the Affiliate Distinguished Service Award from Keep America Beautiful.
2014
The success of Tox Away Day, Bulky Trash Days and recycling netted over 1.4 million pounds of trash from our community during the 2014 program year.
2016
Keep Stockwell Beautiful received the 2015 Keep America Beautiful President Circle Award recognition at Keep America Beautiful’s recent National Conference in Orlando, Florida. The President’s Circle Award recognizes exemplary performance made by certified affiliates of the national nonprofit in creating clean, green and beautiful communities.
