James Cole Outdoor Education Area
The James Cole Outdoor Education Area is a designated wildlife area that is five acres of land divided into several “featured” areas.
The center has areas registered with two national programs, the People’s Garden Initiative (started by Michelle Obama) and the SHARE program (Simply Have Areas Reserved for the Environment). The Cole Outdoor Education Center is also in the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge. This initiative was started to increase the number of pollinator gardens across North America.
The Center hosts Open Houses, Pond Day, McCutcheon Buddy Day, Educational programs for Home Schooled children and community clean-ups. This area is also a classroom alternative to the teachers at James Cole Elementary and Tippecanoe School Corporation.
